Meteorologist Jim Madaus has earned the confidence of local television viewers and radio listeners for the last 23 years. Madaus is one of Detroit's most trusted meteorologists.
Madaus has worked as the chief meteorologist at CBS owned WWJTV, and WKBD-TV, as well as WXYZ-TV where he started in 1984. Previously, he was chief meteorologist for stations WJRT-TV in Flint, Michigan, WMTV-TV in Madison, Wisconsin, and WREX-TV in Rockford, Illinois. Madaus also delivers the weather every weekday morning with J.J. and Lynne on 94.7 WCSX Radio in Detroit, and checks the sky for Ken Calvert during times of active weather weekday afternoons.
Madaus continues to stay actively involved in the community by visiting area elementary schools as well as community groups.
Growing up and spending his entire career in the Great Lakes Area, Madaus graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration Cum Laude from Davenport University in Flint. He then went on to pursue a second degree in Meteorology taking the entire core curriculum in Atmospheric Sciences from Mississippi State University.Jim Madaus is a full member of the A.M.S., and was awarded the prestigious American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval for television.Jim has received numerous honors and awards, including the Silver Circle Award from the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Madaus was voted the Best Unsung Weathercaster in Detroit by the Detroit Free Press. Also, he is a recipient of the Best Weathercast in Detroit Award from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, and has been an integral part of many Emmy winning and award winning newscasts in Detroit. Jim's interests include classic rock and electric guitars, classic cars, and anything to do with computers. Jim and his wife, Janet, have two children.
