Meteorologist Jim Madaus has earned the confidence of local television viewers and radio listeners for the last 25 years as one of Detroit's most trusted meteorologists. Currently, Jim is the chief meteorologist at CBS owned WWJ-TV, and WKBD-TV. Previously, he enjoyed many years at WXYZ-TV, and was chief meteorologist for stations WJRT-TV in Flint, Michigan, WMTV-TV in Madison, Wisconsin, WREX-TV in Rockford, Illinois. Jim also delivered the weather for many years with the popular morning team of J.J. and Lynne on WCXS radio. Born and raised in The Great Lakes area, Jim graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration Cum Laude from Davenport University in Flint. He then went on to pursue a second degree in Meteorology, taking the entire core curriculum in Atmospheric Sciences from Mississippi State University. He recently finished a 2 year study in Technical Writing and received a certificate from the University of California, Riverside. He is also a full member of the A.M.S., and was awarded the prestigious American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval for television. Jim has received numerous honors and awards, including the Silver Circle Award from the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He was voted the "Best Unsung Weathercaster" in Detroit by the Detroit Free Press, and is also the recipient of the "Best Weathercast in Detroit Award" from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. Madaus continues to stay actively involved in the community by visiting area elementary schools as well as community groups. Jim's interests include classic rock and electric guitars, classic cars, and anything to do with computers. Jim and his wife, Janet, have two children.
