Mike Brookbank is the host of the Free Press Express segments on WWJ-TV's "First Forecast Mornings and a Digital Host for The Detroit Free Press.

Mike Brookbank joined the Free Press as a Digital Host in April 2009.

He is extremely excited to be part of history at the Free Press. Although Mike knew getting up at 1:00 a.m. would sometimes be a challenge, he couldn't pass up the opportunity to launch WWJ-TV's First Forecast Mornings. Mike gives viewers a sneak peek at the day's Free Press -- highlighting the most important headlines during the Free Press Express. "This is such a unique partnership between WWJ-TV and the Free Press, truly on the forefront of what we'll certainly see in the future as more tv stations and newspapers team up," Mike said.

Before coming to the Motor City, Mike worked as a morning anchor and executive producer in Colorado Springs, Colorado, as well as at stations in South Bend, Indiana, Champaign, Illinois and Rochester, Minnesota. "I'm looking forward to living in the Midwest again. This is home."

Mike was born and raised in suburban Chicago and went to college at the University of North Dakota. He is the oddball of the family, living outside Chicago. Mike is excited to be living in metro Detroit. "This city gets such a bad wrap. I look forward to learning more about the rich history here and sharing it with friends and family across the country."
