12 Week Program Will Travel Throughout the City of Detroit Before Visiting Other Communities Within the United States
Responding to the economic crisis effecting both Detroit and the rest of the United States, television personality and Detroit native, Judge Greg Mathis is proud to announce the launch of the "Judge Mathis Mobile Services Project" beginning Friday, July 10, 2009 at the Mathis Community Center (19300 Greenfield Rd. Detroit, MI) from noon to 6pm.
The 12 week program sponsored by Mathis will provide the people of Detroit with food, resources and information needed to help them get back on their feet. In the spirit of community and recovery, the mobile unit will travel to various locations throughout the city and will provide services from noon to 6pm every Thursday through Sunday ending on September 27.
With over 50 community and faith partners including the Gleaners Community Food Bank of Detroit, Goodwill Industries, Focus Hope, City of Detroit Workforce Development, the Detroit Urban League, Michigan Works, Detroit Rescue Mission, and the Jewish Vocational Services among others, the "Judge Mathis Mobile Services Project" will provide food distribution services, job information and guidance to wrap around services for communities in need of support during this period of economic crisis. The goal is to provide support and assistance to individuals and families whose lives have been drastically affected by the economic downturn. Additionally, the service will provide the general public with information pertaining to resources and assistance provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed by President Obama.
