Botsford Community Sew-4-Kids

Saturday, October 24

Jessica Twigg, who tragically lost her young son this past summer, has made helping other hospitalized children her mission. Botsford Commons' seniors have joined her, and hope the community will as well. The Farmington Hills senior community will host the Sew-4-Kids benefit on Oct. 24, Make A Difference Day.

"Jessica's story really tugged on their heart strings," said Camille Purdie, Botsford's executive director of marketing. "They wanted to be involved."

Twigg's son, Ethin, died this past June of a congenital heart defect after spending much of his 5½ months on earth at Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor. Jessica has reached through her grief to accomplish her mission that all children on the hospital's fifth floor, where Ethin received care, will receive blankets, quilts, pillows and other comfort items.

All Sew-4-Kids products will go to those children.

Botsford's Sew-4-Kids event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 24. The goal is to make 150 blankets, whether they are fleece, quilted or flannel. Participants are encouraged to bring fabric, scissors, rulers, cutting boards, needles/pins, thread and other useful items.
Reservations are required and those interested should contact Botsford at (248) 426-6951.
