The Detroit Windsor International Film Festival will have a documentary screening of the film "Show Me the Way" on Saturday, June 27th at 9pm at Wayne State Law School, 471 West Palmer, Detroit 48207. "Show Me the Way" is a documentary created to demonstrate the benefits of having a mentor for support to graduate high school, and go on to college. The national high school dropout rate in America is 1 in 3 ? and that rate is dramatically higher in urban areas such as Detroit. "Show Me the Way" follows the stories of five urban high school kids with very diverse needs and backgrounds as they navigate the challenges of home and school life while utilizing the dedication of a mentor. This film demonstrates the importance of the mentoring partnership to the lives of these youth as they attempt to realize their dreams and pull themselves out of poverty via education and very hard work.
