JVS Trade Secrets Fundraiser

Thursday, March 18
JVS will host its second annual Trade Secrets fundraiser on Thursday, March 18 at 6 p.m. at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham.
This event is being headlined by photojournalist Linda Solomon. During the event, Solomon will share some of her personal experiences and photographic trade secrets.
Trade Secrets benefits the JVS Women to Work Program, a group and personal process that includes individual coaching, counseling and placement services. Women to Work helps women, who have been out of the workforce, when they are forced to find jobs due to divorce, economic necessity, or death or disability of a spouse.
According to JVS CEO Barbara Nurenberg, "Every one of the women who enter the Women to Work Program feel like the world has dropped them on their heads. Not only do they feel unsure of themselves and isolated from the world of work, they are unemployed in Michigan. For the past 4 years, our unemployment rate is among the highest in the nation. The fact that 85% of the women who participate in the program find employment is a testimonial to the JVS staff."
This year, Barbara L. Benent will be the recipient of the JVS Women to Work Award. The award is presented to a woman who, with JVS' help, has successfully adapted to a sudden need to return to the workforce.
Tickets for the JVS Trade Secrets fundraiser are $125.
