BAREFOOT AT THE BARN
Neil Simon's Classic Comedy Barefoot In The Park
Life after the honeymoon is certainly no walk in the park.
Free-spirited Corie Bratter thinks the honeymoon will last forever, while her proper husband Paul appears married to his new job as a lawyer. They struggle to coexist in their first apartment-a cramped 5th floor walkup in Manhattan with no bedroom, no bathtub, and no way to keep wind and snow from leaking through a broken skylight.
Corie's guilt-tripping mother Ethel and eccentric neighbor Victor Velasco add color to the Bratter's lives and eventually inspire Corie to play matchmaker, throwing a dinner party that dishes up loads of laughter.
Neil Simon wrote this romantic comedy as a Valentine for his first wife. The play debuted on Broadway in 1963 starring Robert Redford (who reprised his role in the 1967 movie version with Jane Fonda). The Farmington Players' production, directed by Allison Soranno, is sure
to be an audience favorite. It was the #1 requested comedy in last year's audience survey.
Barefoot in the Park continues the Farmington Players' 55-year tradition of producing compelling live performances, most recently in a new state-of-the art facility.
Tickets sell for $13-$15, with discounts for groups of ten or more. Special discounts are available to seniors for the "Senior Sunday" performance
on September 28.
Barefoot in the Park runs September 26 October 18. For detailed show information and to purchase tickets visit www.farmingtonplayers.org or call the box office at (248) 553-2955.
