Every Sunday of November 1st-29th
The Detroit Historical Museum presents Senior Sundays this November. On the five Sundays of the month, November 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th, senior guests (ages 60 and over) will receive FREE admission to the Museum.
Guests will have an opportunity to explore the Detroit Historical Museum's newest exhibitions. Among the new exhibitions is Fabulous 5: Detroit's Snack Food Superstars. This exhibit showcases the local companies that make some of Detroit's most delectable treats. Featured in the exhibit are: Better Made Snack Food Company, Germack Pistachio Company, Sanders Confectionery, Stroh's Products and Vernor's Ginger Ale. The Germack Pistachio Company is the Savory Snack Superstar Sponsor for this exhibit.
Guests can also get an early start on holiday shopping by visiting the Detroit Historical Museum Store and purchasing a 2010 Days of Detroit calendar. Each month features a rare photo from our region's past and each day highlights an interesting fact that occurred that day.
The Detroit Historical Museum, located at 5401 Woodward Ave. (NW corner of Kirby) in Detroit's Cultural Center area, is open to the public Wednesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from Noon to 5 p.m. On Mondays and Tuesdays, the Museum is not open to the public but available for group tours by calling (313) 833-7979.
Regular adult admission is $6. Seniors (60+), college students with valid college ID, and youth ages 5-17 pay $4. Admission for children ages four and under is free. Parking in the Museum's lot is $4 at all times. Permanent exhibits include the famous Streets of Old Detroit, Frontiers to Factories, The Motor City, and The Glancy Trains.
